So I re-ripped getting rid of MKV Flags: Default and it just reverses the problem: I get no subtitles at all, not even for foreign dialog, and when I turn subtitles on I get them for the whole episode, not just foreign dialog. If I then turn off subtitles I get nothing, not even for foreign dialog. If I leave the MKV Flags: Default on I get the whole episode subtitled as default, including the foreign dialogue. I know episode 6 has some foreign dialogue so needs subtitles, so I put Disc 2 in and make my selection in MakeMKV as per the attachment.

So the first disc I try is Breaking Bad Season 3 (we're re-watching it).

I'm looking to redo them to MKV to allow me to strip out some unnecessary data and save some space on my NAS. Star Wars has ventured to a long time before the Skywalker Saga in its new High Republic series, but that doesn't mean it can't shine a light on events that took place during that epic nine-movie saga.I currently rip my content using AnyDVD HD as folders (so VIDEO_TS and BDMW). Set around 200 years before The Phantom Menace, Light of the Jedikicks off the High Republic era with the Jedi in their prime, helping to prevent a galaxy-wide disaster after a ship falls apart in hyperspace. There's even a slightly-younger Yoda there to help out his fellow Jedi.īut although they prevent the first disaster, there are still pieces of the ship falling out of hyperspace at seemingly random intervals, called "Emergences", that threaten even more lives in the Hetzal system in the Outer Rim. So a genius systems analyst on Hetzal Prime (the main planet in the system) comes up with a plan to predict where the next Emergences will happen. In order to achieve it though, he needs help from the San Tekka clan and in doing so, the book manages to fill in a lingering mystery from The Force Awakens. The San Tekka name that should be familiar to Star Wars fans as centuries later, it was Lor San Tekka (played by the late, great Max Von Sydow) who handed the Resistance a vital part of the map that led the way to Luke Skywalker. While Lor's backstory has been fleshed out in the wider Star Wars universe, specifically in the Poe Dameron comic book series, there have always remained unanswered questions about how he got his hands on the map fragment.Ī member of the Church of the Force, Lor wasn't Force-sensitive but he was sympathetic to the Jedi Order. This led him to become an ally to Luke Skywalker after Return of the Jedi, helping him recover secret Jedi lore that the Empire had tried to erase, including the locations of Jedi temples such as the one on Ahch-To.Īfter he was rescued from floating in space by the Resistance (long story), Lor told General Leia Organa that he had an idea where Luke would be. This led to Leia sending Poe Dameron after Lor and the meeting we saw on Jakku where Lor handed him the critical map fragment to Ahch-To.īut how did Lor become so proficient in maps and locations of otherwise-secret places like Ahch-To? Light of the Jedi sheds light on this mystery as it reveals the San Tekka clan made their fortunes as "hyperspace prospectors".Īny maps and routes worked out by the San Tekka clan during their prosperous days could have been stored, including the location to Ahch-To.

We know this because the San Tekka clan have a secret: one of them is working for the villainous Nihil. It's revealed in Light of the Jedi that Mari San Tekka is responsible for the Paths that Marchion Ro uses to create the hyperspace disaster. Mari doesn't know it as she was taken by the Nihil when she was six and Marchion Ro's family have "handed her down from generation to generation". Marchion Ro is storing all of these routes for some future plan that we don't know about yet, but who's to say that one of these isn't a route to Ahch-To? She's being kept alive due to her unique skill in working out the Paths through the galaxy that nobody else can.

We're speculating, of course, but it at least confirms that knowledge from this High Republic time could have stuck around.Īnd as a member of the San Tekka clan who used to map the entire universe, it now makes total sense that Lor knew exactly how to get the Resistance to Luke.
